Sycamore

Sycamore is a part of the Maple family. It is abundant in Britain and is often seen a nuisance.

The wood is great! Close grained, hardwearing, and light in colour.

It makes great spoons, kitchenware, and furniture. Traditionally used for butchers blocks because of its tight grain structure and dislike of splitting, and that it heals itself when cut.

Can range from light white to grey. Quartersawn pieces can reveal a beautiful shimmering grain patterning.

Nice finished in a 'Raw' finish to preserve the whiteness of the wood and prevent it yellowing.
